Phoenix Open 2013 is Nearly Here

TPC Scottsdale

Depending on how long you’ve lived in the Valley, or what your friends call it, you may know the Phoenix Open by a few different names: FBR, The Greatest Show on Grass, Waste Management Open, etc. It’s all the same event, though, and it’s always a BIG hit with audiences of all kinds!

What is the Waste Management Phoenix Open?

The Phoenix Open is a PGA TOUR event, but not just any PGA TOUR event. This year will mark the 26th consecutive year and the longest continuous stretch a Tournament Players Club has hosted a PGA TOUR event. The main event’s first round of play starts on Thursday, January 31st at 7:30am and ends with a fourth round of play on Sunday, February 3rd, beginning at 9:00am. Although, if you’re up for more, there are several other charity events, Pro-Am tournaments, and a Special Olympics Open taking place earlier in the week beginning on Monday, January 28th.

While Saturday has been, historically, the most popular day of the golf tournament, tens of thousands of spectators are expected to attend each day of play this year. In fact, just last year, Saturday’s attendance set the new PGA TOUR single-day attendance record at 173,210. So, if this sounds like your kind of party, I recommend you buy your tickets soon and get there early!

Did I just use the words party and golf in the same paragraph?

I sure did! The TPC Scottsdale is considered by many to be the most fan-friendly venue on the PGA TOUR, and because of that, it consistently attracts the largest galleries of any golf tournament in the world.

What makes the TPC Scottsdale so fan-friendly?

Here are just a few…

1. The Coors Light Birds Nest entertainment tent will host live music each night from Wednesday, January 30th through Saturday, February 2nd, performed by headliners like Dierks Bentley and O.A.R., as well as DJ Roonie G, Kelley James, Smasht, and Metalhead.

2. Since the Waste Management Phoenix Open is a PGA TOUR event, you have a good chance of spotting a Hall of Famer like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Vijay Singh, or Phil Mickelson.

3. The skybox seats surrounding the 16th Hole create the most unique stadium-like setting around any hole on any course in the world.

4. And, of course, our warm Arizona winters! As of the writing of this post, the high temperatures during the Phoenix Open are forecasted to reach 73 degrees during the day with zero chance of rain!

Speaking of our amazing winter weather, it’s also a great time of year to buy a home in the Phoenix area. If you’ve thought about buying a second home or possibly your first rental property here, please give us a call or visit our Contact Us page!

Joshua, great synopsis on the Phoenix Open. I always look forward to attending at least one of the days. I hope to get out there maybe on Friday. I’m looking forward to having one of your listings in Chandler as the lunch house for our February tour in a 10 days or so.

Thank you, Richard! My wife and I always looked forward to going, too.
